  • Climate-
    • cool, treeless, and dry
  • Average Rainfall-
    • 30-50 cm/ 12-20 in.
  • Average Temerature-
    • -14 degrees celcious/ 19.8 degrees farenhiet
  • Permafrost-
    • Permafrost is a frozen layer of soil to help with the lack of rain so it's not too dry

Biotic factors:

Producers;
  • Artic Moss- stores nutrients in it while it's not growing
  • Artic Willow- it has shallow roots to avoid the permafrost
  • Pasque Flower- silky hair for insulation
  • Tufted Saxifrage- a well developed root system to store carbohydrates
  • Bearberry- grows low to avoid the wind and has silky short hairs to keep it warm

  • Yaks- can withstand really cold temperatures because of thier fur
  • Snowgeese- migrates to avoid cold
  • Artic Hare- has reletively short ears to keep more heat in thier body

Carnivores;
  • Snowy Owl- wings are silent
  • Gray Wolf- fast running to hunt down prey
  • Artic Fox- they have long bushy tails to help them turn while running fast

Omnivores;
  • Polar Bear- its fur is the color or snow as camoflage and many layers of fur to keep them warm
  • Barren-Ground Grizzly- thick fat deposits under the skin
  • Pika- produces two kinds of droppings, eats the first type to get ant nutrients it might of missed.
